An MA, with guidance, assists in providing and evaluating nursing care for patients and in coordinating nursing care activities with other health care disciplines./span/p pspan style="font-size: 14px"QUALIFICATIONS:/span/p pspan style="font-size: 14px"High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Current Medical Assistant certification/license preferred. Current certification in CPR. Prior experience in medical office setting preferred. Pediatric experience preferred. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish). Must be able to perform duties with minimum supervision./span/p pspan style="font-size: 14px"POSITION SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE MEASURES:/span/p pspan style="font-size: 14px"Back Office MA Responsibilities:/span/p ul lispan style="font-size: 14px"Takes vital signs accurately, including data collection, height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Under the direction of the provider, performs procedures, treatments, and/or tests as assigned. Reports results to the provider./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Instructs patient in the proper stool, urine, and sputum specimen collection./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Performs dressing changes as directed./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Sets up and assists with sterile surgical procedures./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Is attentive to changes in patient condition or behavior and communicates patient needs to provider. Keeps provider informed of changes in patient’s condition/status./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Assists with delivery of patient care, as needed./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Prepares specimens./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Charts all actions taken accurately and timely./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Cleans and sets up examination rooms./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Clean and sterilizes equipment./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Initiates procedures for emergency care that require immediate action, following pertinent policies/procedures./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Remains calm in stressful situations./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Accurately and promptly carries out provider’s orders./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Performs urine drug screen collections accurately, and is attentive to the donor’s demeanor./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Accurately documents CHDP data, referrals, immunization records, chief complaints, and vital signs./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Prepares equipment and assists with gynecological exams./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Performs ear lavage procedure./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Performs Accucheck with calibration./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Performs Hemocue and checks control./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Accurately performs urine dip and controls./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Performs HCG and control../span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Performs stool occult and control./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Performs vision screening, audiometries, spirometry tests, and EKGs./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Employee may transport medication, including expired medications, to and from the hospital pharmacy to the clinics./span/li /ul pspan style="font-size: 14px"Front Office MA Responsibilities:/span/p ul lispan style="font-size: 14px"Files, copies, and obtains prior records, and prepares forms./span/li lispan style="font-size: 14px"Answers the telephone professionally (with courtesy, accuracy and respect for confidentiality), identifying self and department.
