Job Description
The Midtown Group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented HR Onboarding & Engagement Specialist to join our Human Resources team. In this hybrid role, you will play a critical part in both the new hire experience and day-to-day HR operations. You will design and facilitate engaging orientation sessions, guide employees from offer acceptance through their successful start, and provide ongoing HR support throughout the employee lifecycle.
This role requires a proactive, service-minded professional who can balance the structured processes of onboarding with the dynamic needs of HR administration, ensuring both compliance and exceptional employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Onboarding & Orientation
- Design, deliver, and continuously improve engaging new hire orientation sessions that introduce company values, culture, and policies.
- Manage pre-hire and post-hire processes, including documentation, background checks, and systems access.
- Serve as the first point of contact for new hires, ensuring questions are answered and transitions are seamless.
HR Administration & Support
- Support daily HR operations, including maintaining employee files, updating HRIS, and assisting with benefits and payroll coordination; conduct employment verifications, facilitate background check requests.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies.
- Assist with reporting, audits, and documentation to support HR compliance and best practices.
Employee Engagement & Retention
- Conduct new hire check-ins to assess engagement, address concerns, and foster positive experiences.
- Act as a liaison between employees, managers, and HR leadership to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and contribute ideas to strengthen workplace culture.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partners with HR, IT, and department leaders to ensure resources and tools are in place for each new hire.
- Gather feedback from new hires and managers to refine and enhance the onboarding process.
- Stay current on HR best practices and recommend process improvements for efficiency and employee satisfaction.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in onboarding, HR administration, or employee engagement (staffing agency or fast-paced environment preferred).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to connect across diverse groups.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems, onboarding tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional employee and client service in HR-related functions.
