Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Freight Handler / Forklift Operator to join our warehouse operations team. The primary responsibility of this role is to load, unload, move, and stage freight using forklifts and other warehouse equipment while maintaining efficiency, accuracy, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment to move freight within the warehouse or yard.
Load and unload trailers, containers, and trucks safely and efficiently.
Inspect incoming and outgoing freight for accuracy, damages, and proper labeling.
Verify freight counts and ensure shipments are staged or stored in the correct locations.
Maintain accurate records of inventory, shipments, and receipts.
Follow safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques, equipment operation guidelines, and PPE requirements.
Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues or needed maintenance.
Collaborate with warehouse staff, drivers, and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.

Qualifications

Experience: 1+ year of warehouse or freight handling experience preferred.
Forklift Certification: Preferred; training may be provided.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to [50-75 lbs], stand, walk, bend, and climb as needed.
Skills:
- Basic math and inventory tracking
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Work Environment: Fast-paced warehouse setting with exposure to varying temperatures, loud equipment, and heavy freight.
