Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in the Machine Manufacturing Technology Department at the Sylvania Campus. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part-time faculty in this area.

This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Instructor Qualifications

Education

  • Associates of Applied Science or equivalent degree in Machine Manufacturing Technology or a related field

OR

  • Completion of a formal training program in machining, such as 4-year Journeyman Apprenticeship, or 2 or more-year Technical Trade School in machining

Experience

  • Five years relevant industry experience using any four (4) of the following basic machine tools (Applicants who have taught in secondary or post-secondary assignments may substitute teaching experience for recent industry experience – 1.5 years of teaching for 1 year of industry experience):

    • Sawing machines

    • Turning machines

    • Milling machines

    • Drilling machines

    • Grinding machines

    • Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines (turning center machines and machining center machines

Related Instruction

In addition to the requirements above, for courses in which related instruction is embedded, faculty must have the following:

For Computation in MCH 120 and 280

  • College-level algebra on college transcript

For Computation in MCH 130 and 272

  • College-level trigonometry on college transcript

For Communication in MCH 130, 272 and 280

  • Supervisory experience (documented)

Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCC

Newly hired Part-time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule.

Hourly rates are determine based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
