Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Aquatics Manager in the management and safe operation of the swimming pool facility - including pool systems and chemicals, deck, and storage areas. Provide supervision to student employees and outside groups.

Open/Close pool according to operational guidelines

Perform regular safety inspections of pool and equipment to reduce hazards

Test chemical balance daily and record on IDPH Operation Report

Assist members with equipment needs and questions

Supervise Lifeguards, and serve as Lifeguard when required

Provide supervision for Rental Groups

Respond to accident/incident appropriately and fill out required paperwork

Monitor inventory of pool chemicals and testing supplies

Assist in ordering chemicals, supplies and ensure proper storage

Maintain storage areas and lifeguard office

Assist in the hiring and training of student lifeguards

Set-up/Re-set the pool for special events/rentals/classes

Communicate with members, rentals, athletic department, and PE departments regarding pool useage and closures

Assist in marketing of aquatic positions and programs

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Education
  • High School Diploma required

• Experience
  • 1-2 years of Lifeguard experience
  • Previous experience supervising lifeguards and outside rental groups
  • Knowledge of pool filtration systems, mechanical systems, and pool chemistry
  • 2-5 years of experience with pool operation and management preferred.

• Licenses and Certifications
  • Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR and AED Upon Hire Req
  • Lifeguard Instructor Pref
  • CPO - Certified Pool Operator Pref

• COD Training
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Hazardous Communications

Working Conditions:

Computers (knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel software), as well as general office equipment i.e., copy and fax machine; Computerized pool filtration system, pool vacuum, power washers, and other cleaning equipment and devices.

Staff is exposed to wet and humid conditions, as well as fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals.

While performing duties of this job, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts and pool mechanical systems.

Days, nights and weekends as required.

This position requires a background check.

Part-Time Work Schedule: 29 hours weekly (3:15-9:45pm Monday - Friday).

Hiring Range:
6 Hourly/Starting salary beginning at $20.14/hourly based on experience
