POSITION SUMMARY:
The Grounds Operator operates a variety of light to medium equipment and vehicles and performs manual labor as necessary for the purpose of snow removal, maintenance, repairs, and construction improvements to resort parking lots, roads, grounds, and facilities. Performs all grounds, landscaping and parking lot duties required of a Grounds Skilled Laborer. Maintains grounds and parking areas in a clean, attractive, and reasonably safe manner. Prepares grounds for summer and winter resort operations. Has experience and is proficient in the operation of skid steers, front end loaders, shuttle bus and 12 yard dump trucks. Complies with all regulations set forth by the Colorado Department of Transportation and Motor Vehicle Bureau.
Familiarity with Winter Park Resort, town and valley is desirable. Experience working with the public in high volume situations desirable. Must be in good physical condition able to withstand sub-zero temperatures for extended periods. Applicant must demonstrate an ability to work independently.

WAGE:
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resorts hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resorts total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
Hourly pay: $23.50 -$25.50

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Performs all snow removal functions including plowing, scraping ice buildup, push back snow piles, and hauling snow with heavy equipment.
- Remove snow and ice from base facilities and parking areas including stairs, decks, grates, walkways, roofs, and drives utilizing shovels, scrapers, and snow blowers. Keep base and mountain transformers, meters, fire hydrants, ski racks, miscellaneous equipment free of snow buildup.
- Check all resort pedestrian walkways & roadways for icy conditions and spread sand and/or ice melt as necessary.
- Maintains and repairs roads, walkways and parking lots including but not limited to asphalt repair, concrete repair and striping of parking lanes.
- Installs and maintains parking lot delineation and regulatory and directional signage.
- Performs all duties associated with parking lots & pay parking.
- Assists guests by responding to and performing vehicle jump starts, pull-outs and lock outs.
- Performs landscape construction duties including grading, tree transplanting, installation and maintenance of irrigation systems, sodding, seeding, and mulching, and fence repairs (summer months)
- Hauls materials as needed.
- Inspects vehicles and equipment daily. Performs routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. Reports other maintenance needs to Vehicle Maintenance.
- Observes procedures, utilizes appropriate safety devices, and participates in equipment
- training sessions.
- Completes all safety logs daily, contracted services log and haul sheets as necessary.
- Performs special event set up and production duties. Performs annual holiday, summer and winter set up duties.
- Perform trash removal and litter pick up duties as assigned.
- Monitors grounds, facilities, and equipment. Corrects and/or reports problems as necessary.
- Be alert for potential hazards involving vehicles, pedestrians, and equipment. Take responsible action to prevent accidents. Report and/or correct any unsafe conditions.
- Assist with vehicle, public, and employee accidents as required. Follow accident reporting procedures.
- Responds to guest and employee concerns and/or needs in a timely, courteous, and helpful manner.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment in proper condition and store correctly. Complete vehicle and equipment inspections. Report problems to supervisor. Perform preventative maintenance tasks.
- Assist guests and employees with directions and information in a friendly, congenial, professional manner. Effectively handle first-line conflicts and problems.
- Assists with resort shuttle driving (non CDL) or CDL vehicles- if licensed.
Other Duties:
- Responds to emergency situations including fire, building evacuation, vehicle and pedestrian accidents, flooding, lift failure, and accident evacuation. Assists Security, municipal police and fire departments, and other protective service agencies as necessary.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date logs of all contract work performed.
- Assists other work groups as necessary and performs other duties as directed.
- Assists with shuttle driving, wagon hauling and hut operation.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSING QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED desirable.
- 1 or more years of grounds, landscape and/or snow removal work or equivalent outdoor maintenance.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Valid Colorado driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record. Must be willing to train for and attain a CDL Class B license as requested and operate a passenger bus for public transportation.
- Experience and proficiency in operation of skid steers and front-end loaders, snow removal experience a plus.
- Must be able to work four 10-hour days/week including weekends and holidays. Must be available for additional hours as needed.
- Must be on-call for snow removal and available to start work at 2:00 a.m. up to five days per week during ski season.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and productively with attention to safety at all times.
- Familiarity with Winter Park Resort and surrounding services desirable
- One or more years' experience operating skid steers, front end loaders, and dump trucks. Snow removal experience desirable.
- Experience working with public desirable, with demonstrated ability to remain calm and congenial under stressful conditions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to lift heavy weight repetitively.
- Ability to remove snow at extreme heights.
- Ability to work in sub-zero temperatures.
