The Role: Tax Advisory Services Manager

You wont just prepare and review returnsyoull become a trusted advisor. Youll work directly with business owners to implement advanced tax planning strategies, join quarterly planning calls, and deliver proactive measures that save clients tens of thousands annually.


Youll collaborate with our Tax Manager, CEO, and team members, while training staff and helping build a first-class tax advisory function. This role is perfect for someone with deep technical tax expertise who also thrives in client-facing work and growth opportunities.


Responsibilities

Tax Advisory & Client Service

  • Deliver proactive tax planning across entity structure, compensation, real estate, retirement, and advanced strategies.
  • Lead quarterly tax planning calls via Zoom, ensuring successful implementation.
  • Provide exceptional client service through professionalism, friendliness, and clarity.


Tax Preparation & Review

  • Review business (1120S, 1065) and individual (1040) returns from start to finish.
  • Supervise staff and ensure accuracy of offshore-prepared data entry.
  • Apply identified tax strategies during preparation and review.
  • Note: Returns will come prepared by accountants; hands-on preparation is minimal.


Team Development & Leadership

  • Mentor and train junior staff to expand tax advisory services.
  • Help design internal processes for efficiency and client success.


Strategic Growth Opportunities

  • Pathway to Director of Operations reporting to the CEO.
  • Potential for future profit-sharing for top performers.



Requirements

  • CPA or JD (EAs not eligible).
  • Minimum 7+ years of public accounting tax experience and 3+ years supervising staff.
  • Extensive experience in preparing and reviewing business and personal tax returns.
  • Currently employed in a public accounting firm (no recent unemployment or side gigs).
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work ~50 hours during tax season; standard hours outside peak season.
  • Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • Prior remote work experience preferred.
  • Must be US-based and fully proficient in English (written and verbal).
  • Comfortable signing an agreement with:
    1. 30-day resignation notice (in place of two weeks).
    2. Disincentives for resigning midtax season.
    3. Cool-off period with prior employer.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $150,000$155,000
  • Incentive Bonus: Up to $15,500
