Mental Health Therapist

The ARK of DC, a Washington, DC premium MHRS - Mental Health Rehabilitation Services Core Services Agency and outpatient mental health clinic is seeking a talented Mental Health Therapist for its counseling department.

The Mental Health Therapist position role is to engage meaningfully to discover strengths, scaffold patients and families to meet their needs and to highlight opportunities so that consumers and staff have increased social emotional capacity.

The Mental Health Therapist will:

• Establish rapport and develops a therapeutic relationship with patients and families.
• Provide therapy services in individual, family, and group sessions along with evidence-based interventions.
• Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution assistance and can differentiate between emergency and non-emergency tasks and responds accordingly.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
• Participate in internal and external organization meetings, clinical supervisions and trainings as directed by management or the Clinical Director
• Obtain bio-psychosocial history information and identifies patients needs by interviewing the family members, reviewing available records, conferring with other professionals and contacting other information sources as necessary and appropriate.
• Perform mental health treatment plans, crisis plans and other screenings, including suicide screenings and suicide prevention plans.

Qualifications:

• A Licensed Mental Health Professional with a full and unrestricted license in good standing to practice in your state (LCSW, LICSW, LMFT, LMHC, LPC, LCPC, etc.)
• Masters degree or higher from an accredited university in the behavioral and mental health field (e.g., social work, counseling, psychology)
• At least 6 months post-masters supervised experience with evidence-based therapies (e.g., ERP, CBT, ACT)
• Organizing abilities, quick and enthusiastic learner, excellent communicator, receptive to feedback, and good with time management
• Ambitious and ready to keep up with a goal-driven, start-up environment
