Engineering Support roles encompass a diverse range of positions that provide technical assistance and expertise to engineering teams across various disciplines. These roles may involve tasks such as conducting research, performing analyses, and assisting in the design and development of engineering projects. Engineering support professionals work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure projects meet quality standards, deadlines, and budgetary constraints.

Discipline Description

Engineering specialists support engineers in the design, modification, improvement, and maintenance of products, processes, and systems in support of nuclear facility operations and missions. Activities include identifying and recommending improvements/preventive actions, inspecting, testing, maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment and systems. They may develop/configure software and/or applications. They monitor processes, estimate costs, make, or verify calculations, and analyze and interpret data. They test new and modified products, processes, and/or systems.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Engineering specialists support engineers in the design, modification, improvement, and maintenance of products, processes, and systems in support of nuclear facility operations and missions. Activities include identifying and recommending improvements/preventive actions, inspecting, testing, maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment and systems. They may develop/configure software and/or applications. They monitor processes, estimate costs, make, or verify calculations, and analyze and interpret data. They test new and modified products, processes, and/or systems.

Commissioning & Start-Up personnel plan, prepare, coordinate, and execute pre-commissioning/commissioning/start-up activities leading to project completion. They develop and ensure adherence to a detailed commissioning schedule and plan, covering all aspects of pre-commissioning and start-up phases through to handover. They prepare and/or update a comprehensive commissioning manual, develop a reporting structure and accountabilities for the commissioning team, and plan and coordinate the commissioning/start up schedule and necessary work with third party providers. They develop and execute commissioning test procedures and documentation and correct any deficiencies found. They ensure compliance and progress reports are produced in accordance with client and legislative requirements and liaise with government agencies where required to obtain necessary approvals prior to start-up. They prepare client acceptance forms and ensure satisfactory sign-off is obtained.

Will Require:
Strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
Evening and weekend hours depending on construction/Commissioning schedule.
Outdoor work in noisy industrial environments for extended periods of time in heat, rain, and cold. Occasionally in temperatures above 100 F and below 32 F.

Physical Requirements:
Able toeasily navigate on foot task of an operating construction site daily to include:
Walking, climbing, stooping, standing, for up to twelve (12) hours a day.
Climbing stairsand scaffolding,walking through unevenand roughterrain, and entering confined spaces (as necessary).
Pushing/pulling and lifting, up to 50 lbs.
Performing the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least five years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

We'd Also Like to See

Prior nuclear operations or naval nuclear experience. Previous NQA-1 level II Test Engineer qualification.
