Actuarial interns have the opportunity to perform data analysis to assist with consulting for various health insurance work areas, such as: Commercial / ACA, Behavioral Health, Risk Adjustment, Medicare Advantage and Part D, Medicaid, Dental, and more. Through our manager program, all staff members are paired with a dedicated manager to help support and celebrate the growth of each staff member./p pstrongWhat You Will Do/strong/p pIn this role you will:/p ul liPerform analyses using spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to clean, synthesize, and analyze data and information/li liCommunicate results to peers and project leaders/li liReview the work of your peers/li liPrepare and document project files/li liAssist with research and business development projects/li liGain valuable experience working with health care data using a variety of software applications/li /ul pOur goal is to give interns a broad range of real-life experiences and exposure to the work of consultants in our practice. Intellectual curiosity, teamwork, and a strong desire to learn are important drivers of success in our practice./p pstrongWhat We Are Looking For/strong/p pstrongProfessional Qualifications/strong/p ul liCurrently enrolled and returning to, or recently graduated from an accredited University, or changing careers to the actuarial field/li liWorking towards, or completed, a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or another major with quantitative course work/li liAt least one Society of Actuaries exam passed/li liSolid understanding of basic actuarial concepts/li liAbility to work independently and within a team/li liEffective communication skills, with the ability to express technical concepts verbally and in writing to diverse audiences/li liStrong analytical and problem-solving skills/li /ul pstrongPersonal Qualifications/strong/p ul liCuriosity/li liStrong desire to learn/li liExcellent attention to detail/li liAbility to learn existing processes quickly/li liAbility to apply knowledge and concepts to a variety of different tasks/li liStrong organizational abilities and time-management skills/li /ul pstrongPreferred Qualifications/strong/p ul liPrior internship(s) in health and/or actuarial-related work experience is beneficial but not required/li liExposure to programming (R, SAS, SQL, Python, VBA) is beneficial but not required/li liJunior or Senior standing, or recently graduated is preferred, but not required/li liAbility to work independently/li /ul pIndividual(s) must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future. /p pstrongLocation/strong/p pMilliman’s Mountain Gulf Health Practice operates under one management group and works remotely across five locations – Denver, Houston, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco.
