pbSTARTING SALARY:/b/pp$17.52 per hour/ppbspanPOSITION SUMMARY:/span/b/ppEmployee will report to Athletic Supervisor and assist in all aspects of department operation related to the planning, organization, marketing, implementation, supervision and evaluation of all athletic related services provided by department. Primary focus areas will be adult athletic league and tournament implementation and supervision to include officials, scorekeepers, and contract labor; assist in the allocation and oversight of city owned athletic facilities by local associations and independent teams and provide overall assistance with the implementation of athletic policies and procedures on a day to day basis. This employee must often make decisions in the absence of the Athletic Supervisor that are consistent with department policy and league rules and must be able to work with minimal supervision. /pp/ppbspanPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:/span/b/pulliSchedule, coordinate, implement and supervise athletic leagues offered by department to include sponsorship acquisition and marketing as determined by supervisor./liliSolicit, train, schedule, supervise and process payment for all league officials and scorekeepers./liliUsing available software applications maintain schedules, standings and all league communications to include the programming of field lights per approved schedules./liliAssist with allocation of city facilities and perform prompt and professional liaison responsibilities between department and recognized associations./liliPrepare and maintain all necessary paperwork and electronic messaging to support league and tournament activities, association field allocation and communication, umpire payroll, budget information, inventory tracking and necessary equipment and award purchasing. Prepares correspondence, fiscal records and reports on departmental activities./liliSchedules and coordinates player appeal hearings related to league and tournament play./liliAssists in monitoring professional service contracts related to officiating and tournament implementation./liliCommunicates and documents needed facility repairs and assures safe play conditions./liliAssists with department budget preparation and management./liliUnderstands and enforces all city and department policies and procedures in a timely and professional manner./liliRequires the ability to work extended hours, evenings and weekend assignments./liliPerforms other related duties as assignedb./b/li/ulp/ppbMachines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids Used:/b/pulliPersonal computer with familiarity with Microsoft Office applications/liliQuick Scores software for scheduling and league maintenance/liliToro Sentinel applications for light programming/liliVarious reproduction machines/liliDigital Camera/liliOffice and Smart Phones/liliTwo-way radio/liliBall field maintenance and scorekeeping equipment/li/ulp/ppbPhysical Demands and Working Conditions:/b/pullispanCan require a considerable amount sitting, walking, and standing, required to work under tough pressure of deadlines, constant phone calls; making quick decisions within the scope of assigned responsibility; handling requests from the public and supervisors simultaneously./span/lilispanOverall work environment may include both indoor and outdoor activity under varied weather conditions and temperatures, long hours on occasion and dealing with customer dissatisfaction./span/lilispanRequires that a high degree of stress does not affect the efficiency and quantity of work performed./span/lilispanAbility to lift up to 25 pounds./span/li/ulp/ppbEducation Training, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications/Registrations Required:/b/pulliGraduation from High School./liliSome college course work in recreation management, physical education or related field is preferred./liliMinimum of one year athletic programming experience with leagues and/or tournament coordination and supervision in a setting with the ability to demonstrate general knowledge of offered sports is preferred./liliValid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record as determined by city policy./liliCertification in C.P.R., A.E.D. and Basic First Aid (may be acquired within first six months of employment)./liliProfessional Sports Manager Certification or a similar certification is preferred or the ability to obtain a professional sports manager certification within the first three years of employment is desired./liliProficiency in operating hardware and software applications related to league registrations, facility reservations, scheduling, website management and facility light programming./liliSkill in resolving customer complaints and concerns in a timely manner./liliAbility to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously./liliGeneral knowledge of ball field maintenance techniques is preferred. /liliGeneral knowledge of U.S.S.S.A. and T.A.A.F. policies and procedures related to adult athletic league administration./liliSome experience with officiating basketball, volleyball, softball or flag football and the ability to train sports officials is preferred. /li/ulp/pp/pp/pp/pp style="text-align:left"The City of Amarillo is an Equal Opportunity employer and encourages applications from eligible and qualified persons regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, age, gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, familial status, disability, genetic information or protected veteran status, in compliance with applicable federal, state and local law.br /br /The City of Amarillo provides reasonable accommodations to applicants with disabilities on a case by case basis.
