Full-Time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team. As a full-time EMT, you will be a vital part of our emergency response system, providing immediate medical care and transportation for patients in critical and emergent situations. You will work as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, under medical oversight, to stabilize patients and safely transport them to medical facilities. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, quick-thinking individual who can perform well under pressure and effectively communicate with patients, colleagues, and hospital staff.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for medical assistance.

• Assess a patient's condition and determine appropriate treatment.

• Provide basic life support, including CPR, bandaging wounds, and administering certain medications as authorized.

• Safely lift and transport patients to the appropriate healthcare facility.

• Document patient care and observations accurately and in a timely manner.

• Maintain and restock medical supplies and ensure the cleanliness of the ambulance.

• Work collaboratively with other first responders, including firefighters and law enforcement.

Schedule:

This is a full-time position with a 48/96 schedule, meaning you will work a 48-hour shift followed by 96 consecutive hours (four full days) off. This schedule allows for a greater work-life balance and reduces the number of weekly commutes.

Compensation:

• Starting Pay: $14.50 per hour.

• Opportunities for Increased Wages: We offer a bridge program with KCMH in the nursing department. EMTs will provide CNA services during down times for EMS for an additional wage. This program is available when coverage is necessary and may not be available for every shift. It is based on current scheduling needs at the time of hire. This bridge program is not required for applicants and can be discussed further during the interview.

Requirements:

• Current EMT certification.

• Valid driver's license.

• Current Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.

• Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, kneeling, and lifting.
