Job Title: Specialty Vehicle Installation Supervisor

Department: Automotive Installation

Accountability: This position reports to the Plant Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing the installation plan by scheduling and assigning personnel
  • Maintain quality service by enforcing organization standards
  • Provide technical assistance, training and direction for installation team to complete work assignments
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to improve the Install shop
  • Manage troubleshooting for installation-related issues.
  • Motivate installation team to high performance while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
  • Coordinate job details with installers and ensure timely communication.
  • Work with Production to coordinate parts needs.
  • Conduct first inspections on installations; resolve issues through training or rework when required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all equipment and resources.
  • Foster cooperation within and between departments
  • Train and onboard new personnel.
  • Communicate expectations, monitor performance, and provide coaching, counseling, and discipline when necessary.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist installers with ISO paperwork, ensuring proper completion and sign-off.
  • Provide a daily status update to the Specialty Vehicle Installation Manager
  • Assist with customers when needed
  • Conduct short, informative floor meetings with installers for process changes or updates.
  • Complete tasks assigned by manager
  • Perform repair work to prevent disruption of scheduled installations.
  • Assist the Specialty Vehicle Installation Manager with quoting labor hours.
  • Resolve personnel problems by investigating issues, identifying solutions and recommending actions
  • Manage hardware inventory, including ordering and stocking consumables
  • Gather and supply installation parts as required
  • Tracking install times and employee punches utilizing Factory Scheduler

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED, Technical Certification, a plus
  • 10+ years’ experience or training in automotive/electrical installation or repair
  • 2+ years’ experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong sense of urgency with a date-driven mindset
  • Hands-on approach to problem-solving and work execution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
  • Ability to understand, communicate, and document complex instructions in English.
  • Ability to write instructions and reports
  • Ability to present information to groups of people
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting work instructions, production documents, and engineering drawings.
  • General knowledge of workplace safety, knowledge of OSHA requirements, a plus
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Must have personal tools and tool chest
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to tolerate long periods of standing, squatting, stooping and bending
  • Ability to stand, squat, stoop, and bend for long periods.
  • Visual abilities: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
