Maintenance Tech
Location: Garden City, Kansas
Maintenance Technicians play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of a local plant by conducting regular and preventative maintenance on machinery. This position involves working closely with other maintenance team members, performing emergency repairs when necessary, and assisting with the installation, maintenance, and testing of equipment related to Research and Development projects.
Responsibilities
Process work orders and execute daily preventative maintenance tasks according to established procedures and schedules.
Repair, service, adjust, and test various equipment including air systems, refrigeration units, hydraulic tanks, compressors, and condensers.
Efficiently assemble and disassemble equipment while adhering to high maintenance and safety standards.
Utilize hand and power tools effectively to carry out maintenance tasks.
Operate forklifts, hoists, and other heavy equipment as required.
Immediately report or repair any issues observed during the shift and communicate effectively with maintenance management.
Adhere to established procedures and processes to ensure operational integrity.
Continuously learn and acquire knowledge of all systems within the facility to enhance competency and advance career prospects.
Employ critical thinking skills to improve technical competency and overall effectiveness.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills and Abilities
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to service precision machine parts.
Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
Ability to maintain certification to operate material handling equipment and service refrigeration and mechanical systems.
General computer literacy preferred.
Demonstrated Competencies
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong observation and analytical evaluation skills for troubleshooting and diagnosing problems.
Self-directed with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Punctual and reliable attendance.
Physical Requirements
Capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 60 lbs.
Ability to engage in activities such as walking, standing, climbing, bending, reaching, and handling.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
Experience & Education
Minimum of 1 year of plant maintenance experience preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent, or demonstrable ability to perform essential job functions.
