This is a responsible clerical position that assists the Village Clerk in performing the administrative duties and responsibilities of the office. The Village Mayor appoints the Deputy Village Clerk, subject to acknowledgment by the Village Board.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Assists in opening and closing the Village Office.
Assists in answering various inquiries from residents and other customers.
Assists in answering incoming telephone calls and directs them to appropriate departments/personnel.
Assists in issuing handicapped permits and other documents and transcripts offered by the Village.
Collects permit fees and other miscellaneous fees and charges.
Assist in attendance at Village Board meetings and produce minutes for the Village Clerk, as needed.
Help balance cash drawers and prepare bank deposits as required.
Aids in the handling of Village tax bills and water bills.
Assists with Village Board meeting preparation.
Assists in the maintenance of and disposition of department files and organization files in accordance with the records management policies, NYS Laws and Village Law.
Assists with duties associated with legal postings and filings.
Assists with mailings, typing and copying.
Assists in completing reports and documentation.
Performs tax searches.
Acts for and in place of the Village Clerk when requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
