Job Overview:
The Patient Access Representative accurately and promptly collects all pertinent information at the initial point of registration to ensure the proper billing process occurs which will enhance timely cash flow and reduce the days in accounts receivable.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma/GED
Preferred:
- Medical insurance verification and authorization experience preferred
- Patient Access experience preferred
- Knowledge in all aspects of registration, Non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care preferred
- Medical terminology and computer skills
Schedule:
- Part-Time
- Week 1 - Wednesday, Friday, Saturday 3pm-11:30pm
- Week 2 - Sunday, Tuesday 3pm-11:30pm
- Weekend & Holiday rotation and on-call requirements
- Evenings
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for coordinating and facilitating registration and admissions by obtaining pertinent demographic information, collecting accurate information and performing inpatient authorizations in order to financially clear the inpatient hospital accounts
- The ideal candidate must be detail oriented and promote patient satisfaction
- Service oriented background, good written and verbal communication skill in and accurate typing ability
- Demonstrates initiative and motivation in role proactively identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner and escalates issues to leadership when necessary
- Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude
- Works closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments to foster a team environment
- Participate in training through the development of training tools, presentations at department in-services or staff meetings, or through the training of registration staff outside the patient access department
