Manual Lathe/Mill Machinist

We're hiring a Manual Lathe and Mill Machinist to join our skilled team at a machine shop in Southeast Houston. This is not CNC — this role requires true manual machining skill and experience working with VTLs, HBMs, and engine lathes.

What You’ll Do:

• Operate manual lathes and mills (including VTLs and horizontal boring mills)

• Machine and repair pump components and other heavy parts to spec

• Read blueprints and interpret technical drawings/work orders

• Select proper tooling, set up machines, and perform precision machining

• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools

• Work independently or as part of a team in a high standards shop environment

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum 3 years' operating manual milling machines and engine lathes

• Strong knowledge of tight tolerances, fits, and critical dimensions

• Familiarity with pump components, rotating equipment, or heavy steel parts (a plus)

• Able to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings

• Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to produce quality work with minimal supervision
