The LHH is seeking a Quality Engineer for a Direct Hire, Permanent Placement position with an aerospace and defense manufacturing client located in Indianapolis, IN. In this role, you will join a well-established organization with a very strong reputation within their industries. You will have the opportunity to lead efforts to continue to refine and enhance product quality while also driving initiatives aimed at improving innovation, process improvement, and continuous improvement throughout the design and manufacturing processes. The compensation is commensurate to experience and will range between $85,000-95,000 per year plus bonus and includes comprehensive benefit and insurance plans, generous Paid Time Off, and a 401K plan with a company match.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) to meet industry and customer standards
  • Conduct inspections and audits of components, processes, and products for regulatory and customer compliance
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions for quality issues and defects
  • Compile and submit data packages and inspection documentation for customer approval
  • Review and validate outgoing shipments for documentation accuracy and product quality
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to guide inspection methods and equipment selection
  • Create drawings and inspection reports for customer deliverables
  • Facilitate nonconformance investigations and collaborate with customer quality contacts
  • Support NADCAP certification efforts and manage inspection forms related to defense contracts
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure incoming material quality and resolve manufacturing concerns
  • Utilize optical scanning systems and manual tools for dimensional and visual inspections
  • Maintain calibration records and ensure gage compliance with internal and external standards
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality concerns
  • Maintain and update quality control plans, SOPs, and inspection documentation
  • Apply statistical process control methods to monitor and improve manufacturing performance

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering is highly preferred
  • Minimum of 3+ years of quality engineering experience within the aerospace manufacturing industry is required
  • Must have 3+ years of experience with AS9100 standards and First Article Inspections in aerospace manufacturing
  • Must have the ability to compile inspection data and customer documentation packets
  • Ideal candidates will have experience with NADCAP certification processes and defense contract documentation
  • Ideal candidates will have the ability to interpret customer specifications and inspection requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy is required
  • Must be self-motivated and proactive
