Job Description

Summary

Join a team that values stability, joy, and child-led learning.

Child care and early learning isn’t a field for everyone. It takes patience, energy, the ability to pivot, and a deep appreciation for the small moments that make a big impact. At Community Day Center for Children, Inc. (CDCC), we’re looking for someone who brings those qualities—and a genuine desire to help children grow and thrive. Most of our team members have been with CDCC for several years, which creates a stable, collaborative environment for both students and staff.

Position Overview:This position supports children ages 12 to approximately 23 months in a warm, well-organized, and engaging classroom. CDCC participates in the Early Achievers Program, and we’re committed to supporting staff in meeting educational requirements. We assist with college scholarship access or alternative pathways that fulfill DCYF standards.

What You’ll Find at CDCC:
  • Classrooms filled with joyful, curious learners (and yes, we all have our moments!)
  • A privately owned center (not part of a franchise or religious organization)
  • A team where your hours are never cut due to low ratios
  • A supportive environment where staff truly enjoy their work

Benefits Include:
  • Health insurance, including dental, vision, and a medical insurance stipend
  • Paid federal holidays for full-time employees
  • Accrued vacation, sick time, and paid time off
  • Bonus checks and a friendly, respectful work environment

If you or someone you know is looking for a meaningful role in a community-centered environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Duties

  • Support holistic child development: Assist the classroom team in assessing and supporting each child's social, intellectual, emotional, nutritional, and physical needs. Encourage growth through nurturing relationships and inspire a sense of wonder and excitement about learning.
  • Monitor developmental progress: Help track the progress of each child using the Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines (training provided). Document development across domains and update individual Learning Objectives regularly via the Brightwheel platform (training provided).
  • Ensure program compliance: Help implement and maintain compliance with the Minimum Licensing Standards from DCYF, Early Achievers Standards, and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements.
  • Create a safe and engaging environment: Maintain a healthy and safe classroom, while helping plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities using an emergent curriculum approach.
  • Promote positive guidance: Use consistent, respectful child guidance strategies that strengthen children's problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Maintain classroom organization: Monitor and replenish classroom supplies and inventory as needed to support daily operations.
  • Commit to professional development: Stay current with required STARS training hours and other continuing education requirements (training opportunities provided and/or covered by CDCC).
  • Utilize technology: Be comfortable using basic computer programs and iPads to document progress, communicate with families, and manage daily routines.
  • Support general operations: Perform additional duties as assigned to support the classroom and center’s daily functions.
