Job Description

We are looking to hire an enthusiastic and hardworking technician with a good eye for detail. You will be responsible for performing standardized quality control checks on our company products to ensure they meet the required legal and company standards for safety and quality. You may also be required to maintain calibrated test equipment, prepare test data, and identify areas for quality control improvement.

CMM Experience is a MUST (operating or programming)

 

Quality Technician Responsibilities:

Decrease machine downtime to promote customer satisfaction.

Includes:

  • Inspecting goods or products according to quality and safety standards using a Hexagon Optiv M 4.3.3 Dual Scan +.
  • Troubleshoot part defects and machine issues with operators, team leaders and floor supervisors
  • Train employees on part defects and potential causes of the defects.
  • Support Inspection department by identifying possible areas for improvement
  • Inspecting goods or products according to Tylok quality and safety standards.
  • Reporting quality anomalies to the Quality Manager.
  • Support continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and other problem-solving activities.
  • Communicate results and conclusions to production management.
  • Encouraged to lead projects and training opportunities.

Education and Experience:

  • HS diploma or GED; certificate in a related technical skill
  • Minimum 3 years of closely related experience in machine operations and/or quality inspection in Automotive, Aerospace or Medical fields.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical drawings and information.
  • Advanced knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Strong communication skills and can work effectively with staff from all departments, disciplines, and levels.
  • Understanding of Advanced Mathematical concepts.
  • Experience reading quality reports and collecting data for data analysis.
  • Effective competence with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Effective with ERP applications:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • High level of visual awareness

Specific Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) – Understanding engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Blueprint Reading – Interpreting technical drawings and CAD models.
  • Problem-Solving – Diagnosing measurement discrepancies and machine issues.
  • Attention to Detail – Ensuring precision in measurements and reports.
  • Mathematical Aptitude – For interpreting dimensions and tolerances accurately.

Specific Software Proficiency

  • PC-DMIS – One of the most widely used CMM programming platforms.
  • Calypso – Commonly used with Zeiss CMMs.
  • PolyWorks Inspector – For 3D metrology and inspection.
  • Metrology X4 – Another powerful CMM software.
  • AutoCAD / SolidWorks / CATIA – For working with CAD models.

Specific Machine & Tool Knowledge

  • Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) – Operation and maintenance.
  • Manual Inspection Tools – Calipers, micrometers, height gauges.
  • Zeiss, Mitutoyo, Renishaw Systems – Familiarity with specific CMM brands and probes.

Training Requirements: The function should be self-sufficient following appropriate training. This role requires extensive prior machining or inspection/quality knowledge. Specific training includes:

  • Inspection and gaging
  • Nonconformance process, corrective actions and QMS improvement
  • Specific training or experience on the current ERP system
  • HSE training, including PPE, first aid, and fire extinguisher use
