h2About the Department/h2pResponsible for providing fitness instruction to participating members of the Scheels Aim High Big Sky Aquatics and Recreation Center. Work is performed under the supervision of the Fitness and Sport Coordinator or Aquatics Coordinator./ph2Position Duties/h2pul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"liAssists in developing and implementing fitness programs for dryland and/or aquatics./liliResponsible for verification of membership and tracking attendance of fitness program participants for each class for accurate representation/liliReviews and adjusts class proposals to meet the demands of memberships and guests to continue to grow and provide quality fitness programs/liliCommunicates knowledgeably with patrons and staff, both verbally and in writing./liliMonitors facility and surrounding area to ensure safe and proper conduct; reports safety or hazard concerns to supervisors./liliPromotes their classes as well as other programs offered at Scheels Aim High Big Sky at events and facility special events./liliSets up classroom or gym space prior to each class with equipment, music and other variables to ensure class starts on time and with the adequate equipment./liliMeet’s quarterly with the Sport and Fitness Coordinator for class and instructor evaluations./li/ul/ph2Minimum Qualifications/h2pul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"liCertified in CPR and First aide/liliCertified Group Fitness Instructor- preferred/liliCertified AEA Aquatics Instructor- preferred/li/ul brstrongNECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/strongbrPossession of a valid Montana driver’s license./ph2Other Qualifications/h2pul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"liKnowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of group fitness programs./li/ulul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"liAbility to enforce policy rules and regulations and warn users of existing safety hazards./liliAbility to manage conflicts or disputes arising in a calm and appropriate manner./liliAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public./liliProfessional, outgoing and customer service oriented. /li/ul brstrongCORE COMPETENCIES/strong brul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"liCustomer service oriented/liliPunctual/liliEducation and continuing education of fitness subjects/liliProblem solver/liliSafety minded/liliEffective communication skills/li/ul brstrongSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY/strong brThis position does not supervise staff.br brstrongWORK ENVIRONMENT/strong brWork is performed in a group/class setting at the Scheels Aim High Big Sky Aquatics and Recreation Center. Aquatic classes will be taught in the lap or recreation pool, instructors may teach from the deck or in the water. Fitness classes will be taught in a program room or portion of gym. brstrong /strongbrstrongPHYSICAL DEMANDS/strong brWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, crawl, twist, reach, ride and perform similar body movements. Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time; the possession of hand/eye coordination sufficient to operate a computer and a motor vehicle; the ability to talkstrong /strongand hear in person or by telephone; and the ability to see and read instructions and reports.  br br strongEXPECTED HOURS OF WORK/strongbrThe work schedule varies. This position is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime.  Any overtime must be authorized by a supervisor prior to working.
