Group Exercise Instructor

Overview: p style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 12.0pt;" /span/pp style="margin: 0px;"strongspan style="font-size: 12.0pt;"Additional Skills:/span/strong/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.  Demonstrate an understanding of the practical application of group exercise for the Health Fitness Center member and customer profile.  Must be able to speak clearly and articulate instructions in a large group setting.  Must be able to maintain a fitness level appropriate for effective /span/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"instruction at various class levels./span/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 12.0pt;" /span/pp style="margin: 0px;"strongspan style="font-size: 12.0pt;"Working Conditions:/span/strong/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"Monthly rotations of weekend schedule is required and willingness to substitute for other instructors on occasion./span/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 12.0pt;" /span/pp style="margin: 0px;"strongspan style="font-size: 12.0pt;"Physical Requirements:/span/strong/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;"Ability to lead exercise classes with clear communication and perform continuous movement for at least 60 minutes per session.  Be able to visually monitor all participants during the class/span/p Qualifications: p style="margin: 0px;"strongspan style="font-size: 12.0pt;"Qualifications:/span/strong/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"The following, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements to perform the essential functions of this position:/span/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 12.0pt;" /span/pp style="margin: 0px;"strongspan style="font-size: 12.0pt;"Education/formal training/licensure/certification/experience:/span/strong/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 12.0pt;"A group exercise instructor hired with teaching experience must either possess a national certification or one is required within six months of employment.  A group exercise instructor trainee must complete and in-house training program and obtain a national certification that includes a practical exam as well as a written exam.  The group exercise instructor trainee will remain in the trainee status until they have successfully passed their certification and can teach independently./span/p
