Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Shift Details:
- Shift: Contract must run through holiday season, no guaranteed RTO on 3 major holidays
- Hours: 36 hours/week, D/N/Holiday rotation

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical skills, and communication expertise to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families. This role involves assessing patient needs, identifying urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaboratively providing direct care with appropriate interventions while evaluating patient progress.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct initial assessments during triage, establishing rapport with patients and families.
- Identify care priorities according to Triage Standards outlined in ESI training.
- Conduct primary assessments of critical needs, documenting deviations from norms and determining necessary interventions.
- Reassess patients to monitor responses to treatment and changes in condition.
- Educate patients and families on continuing care and healing at home, tailoring sessions to maximize understanding and retention.
- Maintain effective communication with patients and significant others throughout the emergency visit.
- Collaboratively work with team members to enhance patient outcomes while fostering a healing environment.
- Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments, making referrals for post-emergency care as needed.
- Current BLS, ACLS, Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only) required.
- NYS RN Licensure required.
- At least one year of acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurse.
- 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department preferred.
- Ability to build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
- Commitment to safeguarding public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to assess and document psychosocial needs, including the ability to identify signs of domestic violence or abuse.
