A day in the life: What you do
- Responsible for direct Oversight of Quality and Batching Technicians.
- Reviews and resolves operational problems to minimize cost and prevent operational delays.
- Responsible for ensuring Food Safety and Food Quality policies and procedures are adhered to including but not limited by SQF, HACCP, and any customer quality requirements.
- Determine, recommend, and ensure compliance with necessary departmental procedures
- Audits and maintains records necessary for quality control
- Assist with the approval/release/rejection all raw materials, finished goods and in-process materials
- Responsible for departmental non-conformances and implementation of corrective action ensuring all corrective actions are documented and outstanding actions closed in timely manner
- Maintain laboratory equipment in good working condition to include scheduling preventative maintenance and calibration requirements.
- Stock and order lab and sanitation supplies and consumables
- Demonstrates leadership to QC and Blending employees to ensure consistent quality of work
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the appropriate quality KPI’s Ensure internal systems are updated accurately for batching room and for utilization activities
- Ensure compliance to all OHSA and environmental regulatory and corporate standards. Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance
- Monitor and maintain water treatment system in accordance with the requirements of the production schedule
- Accountable for a safe working environment through the development of strategies focused on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization
- Oversee batching process including inputting batching data entry, knowledge of batching/brewing procedure, and troubleshoot batching issues
- Perform all duties in the QA Technician or Blending Technician job description, if needed.
- Conduct or carry out training as required to maintain and optimize performance or increase cross-function ability between departments.
- Conduct verification inspections of employee tasks or reports as needed to ensure product quality.
- Conduct Environmental Monitoring sampling, coordinate testing, review and analyze test results to determine appropriate corrective actions.
Qualifications: What you know
- High School Diploma plus three (3) years of experience in a beverage manufacturing environment, preferably in a Quality position
- Knowledge of quality systems (GMP, HACCP, SQF, etc), certification preferred
- Must be detailed oriented and have excellent follow-up skills
- Bilingual is a plus but not required
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some holidays and weekends
