Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Assist in the development and delivery of ARNP services at Prairie Ridge Integrated Behavioral Healthcare.
2. Perform psychiatric care duties, including but not limited to: taking history and physicals, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and therapeutic tests, prescribing appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, implementing interventions, and monitoring their effectiveness.
3. Engage in activities necessary for effective documentation, coding, authorization, and billing of services, in compliance with generally accepted medical standards.
4. Collaborate and coordinate care with the Prairie Ridge team to develop appropriate behavioral health plans for patients in an outpatient setting.
5. Understand and utilize Medication-Assisted Treatment in the treatment of substance use disorders.
6. Participate in research as requested.
7. Monitor and initiate processes that promote cost-effective and efficient delivery of care.
8. Participate in the assessment and management of new referrals to the ACT Team, with an emphasis on risk assessment and management.
9. Evaluate ACT Team patients by interviewing the patient, family, and others; conducting physical exams; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; and ordering and evaluating lab tests.
10. Develop and implement treatment plans, including the prescription of psychotropic medications, and monitor and evaluate treatment results.
11. Treat patients using psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discuss progress toward goals; provide instructions; and monitor the effects of medications.
12. Consult and collaborate with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, other healthcare providers, and members of the ACT Team through daily consultations.
13. Ensure quality and safe service for patients and staff by enforcing policies and procedures, participating in utilization reviews, and remaining available for emergency consultations.
14. Maintain historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, treatment events, and writing summaries.
15. Participate in on-call duties as needed.
16. Demonstrate understanding and adherence to all CARF, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2 policies and procedures.
17. Participate in activities necessary for the development and implementation of coordinated care at Prairie Ridge.
18. Perform other duties as defined by the supervisor.

Qualifications

1. Current Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Iowa.
2. Authorization to prescribe in the State of Iowa.
3. Supportive of the mission of Prairie Ridge and the patients we serve.
4. Proficiency in oral and written communication, as well as documentation requirements.
5. Technology skills sufficient for proficiency in using electronic health records.
