Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and delivery of ARNP services at Prairie Ridge Integrated Behavioral Healthcare.
- Perform psychiatric care duties, including but not limited to: taking history and physicals, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and therapeutic tests, prescribing appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, implementing interventions, and monitoring their effectiveness.
- Engage in activities necessary for effective documentation, coding, authorization, and billing of services, in compliance with generally accepted medical standards.
- Collaborate and coordinate care with the Prairie Ridge team to develop appropriate behavioral health plans for patients in an outpatient setting.
- Understand and utilize Medication-Assisted Treatment in the treatment of substance use disorders.
- Participate in research as requested.
- Monitor and initiate processes that promote cost-effective and efficient delivery of care.
- Participate in the assessment and management of new referrals to the ACT Team, with an emphasis on risk assessment and management.
- Evaluate ACT Team patients by interviewing the patient, family, and others; conducting physical exams; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; and ordering and evaluating lab tests.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, including the prescription of psychotropic medications, and monitor and evaluate treatment results.
- Treat patients using psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discuss progress toward goals; provide instructions; and monitor the effects of medications.
- Consult and collaborate with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, other healthcare providers, and members of the ACT Team through daily consultations.
- Ensure quality and safe service for patients and staff by enforcing policies and procedures, participating in utilization reviews, and remaining available for emergency consultations.
- Maintain historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, treatment events, and writing summaries.
- Participate in on-call duties as needed.
- Demonstrate understanding and adherence to all CARF, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2 policies and procedures.
- Participate in activities necessary for the development and implementation of coordinated care at Prairie Ridge.
- Perform other duties as defined by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Current Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Iowa.
- Authorization to prescribe in the State of Iowa.
- Supportive of the mission of Prairie Ridge and the patients we serve.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication, as well as documentation requirements.
- Technology skills sufficient for proficiency in using electronic health records.
