About this job
Job Description
Mechanical Project Engineer | Heavy Industrial Manufacturing | $100K–$125K + Bonus + Relocation
We are working with one of the largest and most advanced aluminum manufacturing facilities in North America, located in Cressona, PA, that is making major multi-million-dollar investments into new production lines and state-of-the-art equipment. This is a unique opportunity to join a global leader with over a century of history and a strong culture of innovation, safety, and sustainability.
The Opportunity
As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will take ownership of capital equipment projects from concept through commissioning, while also serving as a critical support resource for plant operations and reliability initiatives. You’ll be directly involved in installing and upgrading large extrusion presses, fabrication systems, and automation equipment, making a measurable impact on both short-term efficiency and long-term growth.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety—balancing design/layout work, project management, and hands-on troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems.
What You’ll Do
- Lead mechanical CAPEX projects (weeks to 6+ months in duration), including design review, vendor management, installation, and commissioning.
- Support plant engineering and maintenance teams with equipment reliability, preventive maintenance strategies, and troubleshooting.
- Work with large, complex machinery including hydraulic presses, pneumatics, and structural assemblies.
- Provide technical guidance on equipment design/layouts using AutoCAD (or similar tools).
- Collaborate with a tight-knit engineering team and cross-functional plant leadership to drive continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of mechanical project engineering experience in heavy industry/manufacturing.
- Hands-on background with hydraulics, presses, or other large/complex machinery.
- Strong project management skills with proven ability to take projects cradle-to-grave.
- Practical design/layout experience (AutoCAD or equivalent).
- Mechanical aptitude and curiosity—bonus points if you enjoy mechanical hobbies (engines, fabrication, rebuilds, etc.).
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar) preferred but not required; P.E. license is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary $100K–$125K, plus retention bonus and quarterly profit share (6–19% average).
- Full relocation package available.
- Comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, disability, life insurance, retirement savings with match, education assistance, parental leave, referral bonuses, and more.
- On-site perks: modern gym, café, and strong team-oriented culture.
Why This Role?
- Be part of high-visibility, high-impact projects tied to plant expansion and modernization.
- Join a company that’s making major long-term investments in its people, equipment, and facilities.
- Work with a supportive, knowledgeable engineering leader who ensures his team has the resources needed to succeed.
- Long-term career path—engineers here become the “go-to” technical experts trusted across the plant.
If you’re a mechanically minded project engineer who wants to own projects, make an impact, and grow with a global leader, this is the role for you.
