Job Description:
The RN Clinical Expanded Role will serve as a service line specialist, focusing on one area of expertise within a specific hospital or care site department. This role is responsible for identifying, coordinating, and evaluating projects and assignments related to their specialty. The RN Clinical Expanded Role provides clinical expertise, consultation, education, and research to their designated area, acting as a change agent by accepting and facilitating change. The incumbent is proactive and assumes a clinical leadership position. Posting Specifics- Benefits Eligible: Yes
- Shift Details: Full time (36 budgeted hours). Monday - Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
- Unit/Location: Home location- Riverton Oncology. This position will float to all 4 locations: Riverton Hospital, LDS Hospital, Alta View Hospital, Intermountain Medical Center.
- Preferred Qualifications: Oncology experience preferred, chemotherapy knowledge preferred, BSN preferred, high level triage experience highly preferred.
- Additional Details: This RN will be on standby shifts and be assigned to a Medical Oncology clinic for chosen days of the week. They will be guaranteed the 36 hours per week but may not know where they work until the day of their shift. There will likely be set days at certain locations 1-2 days per week. Clinics that this role will support are the outpatient Medical Oncology clinics at Riverton Hospital, Alta View Hospital, LDS Hospital and Intermountain Medical Center.
Essential Functions
- Provides expertise in specialty areas; participates in clinical programs and policy development; supports standardization of care protocols.
- Educate and mentor nursing staff and other healthcare professionals on best practices and new developments in the specialty area. Uses research to improve nursing practice and develop care standards.
- Represents department on committees and works with healthcare team to coordinate and optimize patient care. Acts as consultant and liaison to healthcare team, patients, families, and community.
- Promote and integrate evidence-based practices into clinical care, staying current with the latest research and advancements in specialty area.
- Directs and coordinates care team; provides or delegates care according to plan and licensure guidelines; manages time, supplies, and resources.
- Promotes nursing profession; integrates legal and ethical standards; practices within scope of licensure, complies with regulatory standards and documentation requirements.
- Uses assessment data and critical thinking to develop individualized care plans; involves patients, families, and team members.
- Reviews patient response to interventions; revises care plans as needed based on goal achievement and satisfaction.
