Your Role as a Special Education Paraprofessional:
  • Provide Classroom Support - Assist students with academics, social skills, and daily living needs while adapting to all age groups, elementary through high school
  • Monitor & Track Student Progress - Observe behavior, document notes, and share updates with the team to adjust strategies.
  • Support Self-Help Skills - Help students with toileting, feeding, and hygiene to promote independence.
  • Ensure a Safe Learning Environment - Use de-escalation techniques and calming strategies to maintain a supportive, structured environment.
  • Collaborate with Teachers & Families - Partner with teachers, therapists, BCBAs, and parents to provide consistent and individualized support.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least six (6) months of professional experience supporting individuals with disabilities, including direct care or skill-building (e.g., toileting, feeding, hygiene, daily living).
    • Babysitting experience not applicable.
    • Preferred: Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), Behavior Technicians, or Patient Care Assistants (PCAs).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to follow learning plans and work with staff.
  • Ability to use behavior support strategies calmly and professionally.
  • Patient, caring, and dependable demeanor.
  • Team-oriented with good listening skills.
  • Basic computer skills (email, Word, Excel, Google Docs).
