Position Details
  • Position: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) / Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
  • Shift: Night Shift
  • Schedule: 7 On / 7 Off
  • Contract Length: 13 Weeks
  • Setting: Hospital Laboratory
  • Department: Clinical Laboratory
Schedule & Requirements
  • Night shift rotation: 7 consecutive nights on, followed by 7 days off
  • Education verification required
  • Must meet CLIA high-complexity testing personnel qualifications (CLIA 493.1489)
  • Generalist or specialty-certified candidates accepted
Required Experience
  • Hematology experience required
  • Blood Bank experience required
  • Experience performing automated and manual laboratory testing
  • Experience with quality control, troubleshooting, and laboratory instrumentation
  • Ability to analyze and validate test results independently
Required Certifications
  • MLT or MLS Generalist Certification required
    • Accepted certifications include:
      • Generalist Certification
      • Blood Bank (BB)
      • Chemistry (C)
      • Hematology (H)
      • Microbiology (M)
  • Must meet CLIA requirements for high-complexity testing
Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and process patient specimens
  • Perform testing in:
    • Hematology
    • Chemistry
    • Urinalysis
    • Blood Bank
    • Microbiology (if applicable)
  • Operate laboratory information systems for:
    • Patient registration
    • Test ordering
    • Result reporting
    • Documentation
    • Report generation
  • Review and verify test results for accuracy before release
  • Report and document critical values according to policy
  • Perform quality control and proficiency testing
  • Troubleshoot QC issues and laboratory instrumentation
  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration of equipment
  • Participate in method validation and instrument implementation
  • Assist with training and mentoring new employees and students
