ul
liProvides English - Navajo language translation and interpretations for the medical staff and Navajo patients; including translation of medical issues for patients and families and communicates patient concerns to medical staff to meet patient needs./li
liMaintains and coordinates interpreting services for other languages for patients utilizing the volunteer interpreters list. Coordinates interpreting and/or translating training for FDIHB staff./li
liProvides Navajo translation and cultural sensitivity for patients with long term care needs and end of life issue, Advance Directive, Living Wills and Durable Medical Power of Attorney provided in the TMC Clinical Programs./li
liCoordinates with the Patient Experience Lead Navigator, Patient Experience Supervisor, and/or the Patient Experience Manager to address patient and visitor concerns in a customer-friendly and culturally appropriate manner./li
liCoordinates Interpreting and/or translating training for FDIHB staff./li
liCoordinates with FDIHB’s Native Practitioners to ensure staff are culturally sensitive to the needs of the Navajo Patients by training or providing educational material to staff./li
liActs as a resource for Navajo culture to FDIHB Staff to meet the mission of the organization./li
liAssists Patient Navigators with greeting and determines needs of patients, families, and visitors in a cordial and helpful manner./li
liAssists with transporting patients to various clinics in the facility and retrieves patients from various clinics and will provide accurate directions to clinic locations./li
liFollows all protocols and procedures to ensure safe delivery of patients and their possessions./li
liAssists with providing service to patients reporting to the Welcome Center by calling for Transport service, obtaining wheelchairs, or other service providers./li
liRecognizes sensitive cultural differences and remains professional and remains courteous at all times and asks for help when needed./li
liResponds to questions in person or by telephone concerning the organization, functions, activities, and personnel of the hospital./li
liMonitors activities in the lobby and refers problems and questions to appropriate personnel office./li
liNotifies and reports all suspicious activity to Security and or entering into the electronic event reporting system./li
liBecome familiar with the emergency paging codes and emergency plans in order to direct persons to a designated area for treatment, administrative, logistical, or staff pool area./li
liEnters patient complaints and/or grievances into the electronic event reporting system./li
liAssists with immediate resolution of a patient complaint by listening and coordinating the immediate resolution of the concern to the patient’s satisfaction./li
liRequired to provide rotational on-call coverage and/or provide telephone Navajo interpreting services after hours and on weekends./li
liPerforms other duties as assigned./li

pstrongExperience:/strong Two (2) years’ experience of translating and interpreting the Navajo language./p
pstrongEducation:/strong High School Diploma or Equivalency (HSE)./p

pFDIHB and its facilities are located within the Navajo Nation and, in accordance with Navajo Nation law, has implemented a Navajo/Indian Preference in Employment Policy. Pursuant to this Policy, applicants who meet the minimum qualifications for this position and who are enrolled members of the Navajo Nation will be given primary preference in hiring and employment for this position and members of other federally-recognized Indian tribes will be given secondary preference. Other candidates will be considered only after all candidates entitled to primary or secondary preference have been fully considered./p
