Position Description: Position Summary The Radiologic Technologist performs radiological procedures at a technical level. Performs a variety of procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis on patient ranging from infant to geriatric. Assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures as required. Assists in the clinical instruction of Radiology students and other personnel as needed. Primary Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities Receives reviews and evaluates physician orders and patient schedules for Diagnostic Radiology exams. May contact physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals as necessary to verify/clarify orders and/or discuss patient conditions/histories in order to obtain the highest quality images. Greets patients and according to established procedures, prepares patients for radiograph by ensuring proper patient identification, transporting patients between waiting/patient room and procedure room, and assisting patients with dressing and undressing. Demonstrates the ability to perform procedures at all levels of patient care from pediatric to adult. Follows CMS, Joint Commission or other third party agency guidelines to properly identify patients and maintain patient safety. Interviews patients and/or family to obtain medical history relevant to diagnostic imaging procedures. Completes required documentation for each patient. Assists patient on and off of the radiology exam table using proper moving/lifting techniques and equipment. Properly positions patient by using positioning devices and/or sponges in order to obtain high quality radiographic images. Instructs the patient on proper position and breathing technique for required exposure(s). Reviews images to determine quality of exam and determines the need to retake images or obtain additional views. Sends images with appropriate labeling criteria to correct destinations. May be involved in supervision and demonstration of radiographic methods, techniques and procedures for students or other department personnel. Participates in the evaluation of the performance of students or other department personnel as necessary. . Displays a positive attitude which supports organizational values, department efforts and teamwork. Willingly accepts change completing all assignments in a professional and cooperative manner. Demonstrates willingness to assist co-workers whenever needed. Maintains good working rapport with personnel in all modalities. Stays current with department safety processes/plan and follows emergency response protocols as necessary .Basic Qualifications Required Associates degree in Radiologic Technology. Licensed with IEMA. ARRT (R) registry eligible. Must complete ARRT registry within 6 months of hire. Maintains Basic Life support certification. Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress and gather and exchange routine patient information with nurses, physicians and other medical center personnel. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit(s) or by their department. This requires that the incumbent demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psychosocial needs of the patient population served. Analytical skills necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of diagnostic imaging techniques and anatomy in order to obtain high quality images based on the specifics of each individual case. Preferred Experience with routine diagnostic procedures in General Radiology. Experience in customer service/patient experience setting.   - Associates degree in Radiologic Technology - Licensed with IEMA - ARRT (R) registry - BLS - American Heart?
