Automotive Service Advisor

Employment criteria for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent, strong customer service and communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and a solid understanding of automotive systems and repairs. Experience in customer service in the automotive industry is required, as are skills in sales, problem-solving, strong telephone skills. APPLICANT MUST HAVE STRONG TECHNICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC SKILLS.

Telephone skills: Verbal and listening skills are fundamental for engaging customers and conveying information persuasively. The ability to convince potential customers to buy a product or service and to resolve issues is crucial. Resilience in telephone sales roles often involve dealing with rejection, so patience and the ability to handle stress are vital.

Experience: Previous experience in customer service in the automotive field is required.

ASE Certification: While not always required, certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is often a preferred qualification.

Customer Service: The ability to provide excellent, courteous, and effective service to customers is crucial.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for explaining repairs, managing customer expectations, and maintaining rapport.

Technical Knowledge: A thorough understanding of vehicle systems, repairs, and maintenance is necessary to effectively diagnose issues and create estimates.

Computer Proficiency: Basic computer skills are needed to operate service databases and other relevant software applications.

Sales and Problem-Solving: This role involves upselling services, presenting options, and effectively resolving complex customer issues.

Organizational Skills: The ability to multitask, prioritize repairs, and keep records organized is important in a fast-paced environment.

Valid Driver's License: A clean driving record is often a requirement for the position.

Professionalism: A high level of integrity and professionalism is expected when interacting with customers and colleagues.

Flexibility: A willingness to work flexible hours, can be necessary.
