Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg travel position requiring floating and rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg hospital unit within an enterprise staffing pool setting
• Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts totaling 36 hours per week
• Required to work every third weekend
• Floating to other units as needed is required
• Epic charting system is used and experience is required
• ECG exam is administered during orientation
• Responsibilities include direct patient care, patient education, care coordination, and support of professional nursing practice
• Participation in quality improvement, mentoring, informal leadership, and precepting may be expected
• Must successfully complete ECG exam during orientation
• A break of 30-60 days is required for travelers wishing to return after one year on assignment
• Travelers may be canceled for up to three shifts per 13-week assignment due to low census
• Must be able to report to a designated lab within 24 hours of commitment for drug screening
• Dress code and/or scrub requirements will be provided prior to start
• All time-off requests must be submitted up front for consideration

Requirements

• Active RN license in applicable state is required at time of application, no pending licenses accepted
• Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program (ACEN or CCNE recognized); if not from an accredited program, at least one year of RN experience in the last five years in an applicable care setting is required
• If graduation was more than two years ago, one year of RN experience in the applicable care setting is required
• Current BLS (AHA or American Red Cross) or BCLS certification (must not expire within 3 months of start date)
• ACLS certification required
• One year of recent Med/Surg experience is required; for some facilities, two years of experience or three total travel assignments may be required
• PCU/Stepdown experience is preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• COVID vaccination and booster required
