Job Summary:
This is a night shift position, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
Assists the radiologist(s) and primary practitioners by obtaining the best possible radiographs for interpretation according to departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Is responsible to the Ancillary Services Manager and assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Positions patients for appropriate views.
- Provides immobilization devices as required.
- Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
- Selects and operates equipment as necessary for an exam or as directed.
- Processes digital images.
- Provides both radiation and safety protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards for patients and employees.
- Assists the physician in administering opaque and contrast media, and necessary medicines as ordered by the radiologist.
- May be responsible for specific areas of instruction for ancillary personnel.
- Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.
- May assist the primary physician in the administration of ionizing radiation in the radiographic room during special procedures.
- Transports patients from the floor to the department and on and off the appropriate exam area/table.
- Assists as necessary in surgical procedures by taking portable x-rays in the surgical suite.
- Selects and uses appropriate technical factors for taking portable radiographs.
- Works as an individual and as team member depending on department staffing.
- Takes assigned call periods for imaging services in the modalities in which they are trained, certified, licensed, or likewise eligible, such as, radiograph, CT, or ultrasound, as required by department needs.
- Prepares patient for and assists in Radiology/Ultrasound/Mammography/CT procedures.
- Correctly and consistently processes patient paperwork, as delineated in patient processing protocol.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintains adequate records within the department as directed.
- Maintains orderliness and cleanliness.
- Secures and returns supplies.
- Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department.
- Rotates within the department or other departments and by shifts or days of the week as directed, including vacation and sick relief fill-in.
- Pulling and refilling patient cards, reports, and films.
- Operates shift with cost consciousness to avoid over usage or unnecessary waste of materials and/or staff.
- Pursues continuing education techniques and protocols of various radiographic exams, such as but not limited to attendance at outside continuing education seminars with administrative approval.

Education/Experience/Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensure – Must be certified by and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in good standing. Must maintain a license as Certified Radiologic Technologist with the State of Washington.
- Current CPR Certification.
- Completes all licensure and/or certification requirements.
