Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, professional nursing care to patients across the lifespan (infants to elderly), including after-hours urgent and emergent clinic coverage. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care, ensuring quality, safety, and compassionate service while working independently under the supervision of the Nurse Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver holistic nursing care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and socio-cultural needs.
- Assess, plan, and implement care in collaboration with primary providers; evaluate outcomes and adjust care plans.
- Perform triage, recognize life-threatening conditions, and respond appropriately.
- Administer medications, therapeutic measures, and physician-ordered treatments.
- Document assessments, interventions, and interdisciplinary coordination in the EMR.
- Maintain sterile technique and safe environment; manage medical/nursing supplies.
- Operate specialized medical and computer-based health systems.
- Provide lab functions: phlebotomy, QA/QI, lab testing, proficiency testing, and specimen processing.
- Support respiratory therapy services: pulmonary testing, peak flow, nebulizer treatments, EKGs, and oxygen therapy.
- Perform radiology functions: register, capture, edit, transfer, and document imaging studies.
- Assist with case management, referrals, and patient care coordination.
- Participate in on-call, weekend, and secondary coverage duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- License: Active Alaska RN license (required at submission).
- Experience: X-ray experience preferred, but not required.
- Certifications: Flu vaccination required.
- Skills: Strong assessment, triage, problem-solving, and independent decision-making abilities.
