Job Description
General Contractor has an immediate opening for a Full-Time, In-House Paralegal to join the team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Insurance Cases/Construction Litigation
o Notice to insurance carriers
o Track all cases
o Document Discovery
o Constant communication with counsel
Due Diligence—All Projects
o AIA 305 and attachments – legal
o Sponsor Review (Limited and Full)
o EO50 and attachments and PAC
o Eviction
o NYCHA Pre-Qualification
Closing Administration
o Bonds
o Insurance COI's and Endorsements
o Signature & Transmission
o Document Organization
Insurance
o All Subcontractors policy review
o All COI's current and WC
o Correction of all Policies - as possible
o Practice - Notias Policies – Renewals
o NYCHA insurance policy review
o Review of Insurance Requirements
Miscellaneous
o Assistance to PMs as needed
o Legal and miscellaneous (FSG, Letters, Agreements, retainage issues, etc.)
Skills/Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate or Paralegal Certificate
- Prior regulatory experience, affordable housing or construction preferred
- Highly organized with strict attention to detail
- Ability to multitask efficiently
- Ability to prioritize effectively
- Computer proficiency, experience with Timberline a plus
- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
- Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
- Ability to process requests quickly and efficiently
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated and self-starter
- Deadline driven
