Position Overview

The 30+ year company supports the petrochemical and manufacturing industry domestically and internationally and is positioned along the Gulf Coast providing training, occupational medicine, and innovative solutions to industry. The Technical Writer will, under the direction of the Director of Satellites and Operational Excellence, create clear, concise documentation of business and technical processes to support training, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update a variety of technical documentation, including user manuals, training guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), release notes, FAQs, and internal process guides.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), developers, product managers, and support teams to gather technical information and translate it into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.
  • Create visual assets such as diagrams, flowcharts, screenshots, and tables to enhance clarity and usability.
  • Organize documentation for easy access across multiple formats, including web-based help systems, PDFs, internal knowledge bases, and content management platforms.
  • Review and revise existing content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with current product capabilities and tone.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with document controls, brand guidelines, style standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Update documentation in response to product releases, feature enhancements, and system changes.
  • Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Conduct user research and gather feedback to continuously improve documentation quality and relevance.
  • Support various functional and operational teams by developing instructional materials and contributing to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Play a key role in creating a centralized knowledge repository and enabling seamless support for mission-critical contact center operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a fast-paced or regulated industry such as safety, training, or operations.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, talk, and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment

Reporting Responsibilities


This position reports to the Director of Satellites and Operations Excellence who reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This position does not have direct reports.
