Description:

The Director of Construction is responsible for leading our construction team in the quality construction of residential homes and condominium units. In addition to coaching and developing employees, the Director of Construction also ensures quality standards are met, forecasts and budgets material and workforce needs, and manages vendor and/or subcontractor relationships.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Selecting, training, coaching and developing employees in our Construction and Warranty teams
  • Works collaboratively with the COO on Scheduling
  • Ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction while keeping expenses within budget
  • Works in conjunction with the COO on process improvements for the Construction Department. Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures.
  • Forecasting and evaluating workforce needs including supplies/materials, vendor relationships, human capital and technology
  • Monitoring departmental workflow and workload, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget
  • Overseeing all subcontractor operations and relationships in coordination with the COO
  • Addressing and resolving customer and/or subcontractor inquiries and issues regarding the construction of new homes, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Performing site inspections as needed to monitor construction progress, ensure standards are being adhered to and identify/troubleshoot potential problems
  • Planning, monitoring and managing workflow demands. Responsible for ensuring the department is staffed for increased or decreased workflow as needed, analyzing manpower and subcontractor requirements and reacting appropriately

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Construction Management and five to seven years of related experience - a combination of education and experience will be considered

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • May require travel.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
