Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry Unit position requiring 2 years of telemetry experience and current BLS/ACLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 40-bed Cardiac Telemetry Unit within a hospital setting
- Primary patient population includes medical cardiology, cardio-thoracic and vascular surgery, and step-down critical care cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 3-4 during days, 4 in PMs, and 5 at night
- Uses electronic charting, Pyxis, epidurals, PCA’s, barcode scanning for meds, temporary pacers, chest tubes, wound vacs, and IV Alaris pumps
- Epic EMR is used in the unit
- 12-hour night shifts with varied schedules and every other weekend required
- No call requirement
- Floating may occur to MSICU, MSIMC, CICU, or on occasion to med-surg areas (MAP, OCU, PCU, PSCU)
- Travelers may be required to float to other facilities in the Central Region, including Wausau, Merrill, and Langlade
- Main duties include providing nursing care for step-down critical care patients in a cardiac-focused environment
- Contract staff receive a 12-hour department orientation, learning lab, mini-hospital orientation, and Epic training
- Dress code is scrubs
- No call required
- Holiday and weekend coverage is required as scheduled
Requirements
- Active WI or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Ability to perform basic EKG interpretation, assessments, medication administration, dressing changes, and manage telemetry equipment
