About this job
Assembler role will assemble, fit, fasten, and install parts to form subassemblies. Align, fit, assemble, fasten, connect, and install system components of military mechanical/electromechanical equipment. Setup equipment to meet product standards for identification, shell painting, retainer loading, contact painting, wire cutting, riveting, contact crimping and contact hooding. Weigh, mix and identify items such as inks, paints, adhesives, molding compounds, and potting materials. Follow intermediate drawings and procedures. Perform work with limited to no supervision. Support cross training and support of other departments. Manually load and/or machine load retainers into molded plastic inserts per work order instructions. Bond loaded front inserts to molded plastic rear inserts per work order instructions. Bond interface seals and grommet seals to plastic insert assemblies per work order instructions. Rework and/or repair assembled parts and products according to engineering specification changes. Read and interpret blueprints, illustrations, and specifications to determine layouts, sequences of operations, and follows procedures. Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments and following blueprint lines and index points. Assemble and bond EMI rings to connector shell per work order instructions. Assemble and bond EMI rings to connector shell per work order instructions. Apply identification stamping to various components and assemblies. Paint components, as well as apply paint stripe markings to contacts. Work in a safe manner and perform housekeeping duties to maintain safe work environment. Assure proper maintenance of a safe and clean work area. Stage materials for shipment as required. Prepare single and shielded wires for termination, crimp contacts to prepared wires, terminate simple cables to connectors, and load and operate heat treat and annealing ovens. Soldering contacts and application of solvents and epoxies. High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution Minimum of 1-3 years with Manufacturing Environment experience Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Detailed knowledge of Aerospace product, manufacturing processes and inspection techniques. Excellent communication and presentation skills - both verbal and written Ability to read, follow and understand verbal instruction, product/ process specifications, drawings, and work orders in English. 2-3 years' experience in related mechanical manufacturing assembly operations Ability to use calculators. Ability to lift 30 lbs. and handle components and assemblies using bending, reaching, and twisting body movements; in addition to use of hand tools. Ability to recognize and inform supervision of assembly problems and equipment breakdown. Good manual dexterity to assemble small and intricate parts.
