pThe Special Education Assistant provides assistance to Special Education students in the classroom.nbsp; He/she reports to the principal or teacher designated by the principal./p
pnbsp;/p
pstronguPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:/u/strong/p
pAssists special education student(s) with academics in regular education classroom./p
pAssists students in categorical classrooms./p
pAssists special education students in physical education, music, art, at lunch and recess as needed./p
pTakes part in planning meetings and IEPCrsquo;s as requested./p
pAssists with small group non-direct instruction./p
pAssists with large group non-direct instruction./p
pAssists with physical challenges (wheel-chairs, scribe, daily life skills, communication devices)./p
pWorks in areas of self-help (toileting, diapering, dressing, feeding, dispensing medications per district policy)/p
pMonitors behavior of students on behavior plans and others as needed under the direction of the special education teacher./p
pServes as a witness for medication administration if requested./p
pAttends training or in-services./p
pAccompanies special education students on field trips./p
pPerforms other duties as assigned./p

liMinimum education requirement is a high school diploma.nbsp; Previous college credit, WorkKeys certification or college degree preferred.nbsp;/li

liAbility to lift 50 pounds./li
