Detention Officer

pstrongEssential Duties and Responsibilities:/strong/p pSupervises non-citizens in living areas and recreational activities.  Supervises non-citizens and visitors in visitation areas./p pServes as control center officer, coordinates and monitors non-citizen movements, conduct counts, and provides emergency response./p pServes as mailroom, field tower, medical security, perimeter security, and/or gate officer as required./p pProvides security in treatment activities and supervises labor crews in the kitchen and other specialized areas./p pEnsures prompt and appropriate assistance to non-citizens in the event of injury, illness, and emotional trauma./p pPrepares reports and maintains daily logs as required./p pInitiates disciplinary reports./p pConduct shakedown for contraband materials, either individually or as part of a specialized team./p pPromotes facility cleanliness and reports need for maintenance and/or repairs./p pServes as a member of special teams to respond./p pSuccessful completion of training courses and on-the-job training as required by facility training standards./p pPerforms a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed./p pstrongRequired Knowledge Skills/Abilities: /strong/p pMust be representative of worthwhile qualities to which a non-citizen can identify /p pMust be emotionally stable, understanding, and philosophically attuned to the objective of the facility. /p pLanguage skills and reasoning ability are crucial to success in this position. /p pInteracts daily with non-citizens and staff members while providing security for the facility. /p pstrongEducation and Experience:/strong/p pHigh school diploma or equivalent /p pExperience in correctional setting is highly desirable/p p style="text-align: left;"strongBenefits:/strong/p p style="text-align: left;"Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage./p p style="text-align: left;"Paid time off, including vacation, holidays, and sick leave./p p style="text-align: left;"Employer supported retirement plan to help you plan for the future./p p style="text-align: left;"Access to professional development and continuing education opportunities./p p /p pstrongPhysical Requirements: /strong/p pThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
