Job Summary

This position will assist with three PM&R Fellowship programs in Neuromuscular Medicine, Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine, and Sports Medicine. Administrative responsibility includes documenting and reporting educational activity for the purpose of the department's fellowship training programs certification. Manage administrative functions of the PM&R fellowship programs including the ACGME Sports Medicine fellowship, the ACGME Neuromuscular Disease (NMD) Medicine fellowship, the ACGME Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine fellowship, and various non-ACGME research and/or clinical fellowship programs. Utilize independent judgment, be proactive to assure policies and procedures are being followed and make recommendations for program improvement. Collaborate for the development and implementation of strategic plans. This position will also facilitate department outreach and website maintenance and provide support for internal communication initiatives, campus outreach, training and events. Assist in the development and coordination of marketing materials.

  • Knowledge and experience with computers and various software programs using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience writing, editing and producing reports and various types of professional publications in print, digital and online formats.
  • Experience writing, editing and distributing news releases and newsletters.
  • Experience communicating verbally and in writing with a diverse clientele.
  • Experiencing utilizing social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and/or blogs.
  • Project management skills to develop, manage and complete projects successfully, meeting established goals, budget and timelines.
  • Ability to think independently and work proactively to assure university and department goals are met.
  • Planning skills to analyze program goals and objectives to make accurate short and long-term projections to establish program needs and resource requirements, and to secure potential sources of funds and revenue to meet those requirements.
  • Demonstrated political acumen to work in an academic office environment in an executive support capacity.
  • Ability to represent program directors with tact and discretion to all constituencies.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make effective decisions based on campus and University priorities, resources, and policies.
  • Ability to effectively handle sensitive information and difficult situations and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate efficiently and effectively (both orally and in writing) with all levels of academic, administrative, clinical, and staff personnel.
  • Skills to analyze complex data from a wide variety of sources, interpret policies and procedures and communicate to the faculty, staff, residents, fellows, and students.
  • Demonstrated skill and ability to operate a computer utilizing various software programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with independent execution of UCDH fellowship program activities.
  • Experience with UCDH education programs reporting database.
  • Skill to analyze and evaluate complex information, data or problems in an objective manner.
  • Knowledge of the University' professional, academic, and research objectives to act with minimum direction on behalf of the residency program director.
  • Thorough working knowledge of ACGME requirements, ABPMR requirements, state licensing regulations and codes, ECFMG guidelines, University administrative personnel policies and procedures relevant to collective bargaining agreements, affiliation agreements, affirmative action and health/safety guidelines pertaining to the fellowship program.

The department is an active academic department, providing teaching, research and clinical service in the School of Medicine.
