Job Description
Clayton Services is searching for a Production Operator to join a thriving company in Houston. The Production Operator will be responsible for operating machinery, maintaining production efficiency, and ensuring a safe and clean work environment.
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $17/hour plus OT
Benefits: Excellent benefits available after the successful completion of the temporary period, including medical, dental, vision, vacation, and more.
Work Schedule: Must be able to work a 2-2-3 rotating schedule, including weekends (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on)
Shifts: Day shift (6:00 am - 6:30 pm) and night shift (6:00 pm - 6:30 am) are available.
Production Operator Responsibilities:
- Safely operate machinery to achieve production goals while maintaining efficiency and adhering to quality standards.
- Perform housekeeping duties, including sweeping, mopping, and removing debris, to maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and company safety policies at all times.
- Accurately track and record product counts throughout the production process.
- Identify quality issues with raw materials and finished products.
- Maintain appropriate machine speed to meet production targets.
- Monitor and minimize scrap levels in accordance with production standards.
- Support cross-training initiatives and assist in other departmental roles as needed.
- Adhere to 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to ensure a safe and efficient workplace.
- Demonstrate company values, including accountability, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Production Operator Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and temperature changes.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of handling changing production requirements.
- Ability to use tools such as tape measures, calipers, banding equipment, hand tools, and utility knives.
- Proficiency in basic math.
Production Operator Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
Production Operator Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to wear PPE (steel-toed shoes, eye/ear protection, high-visibility clothing, etc.).
