OVERVIEW

The Recovery Coach at Voices of Hope plays a crucial role in supporting individuals on their journey of recovery from substance use disorders. The coach provides peer-based recovery support, helping participants set and achieve personal goals, develop coping strategies, and build their recovery capital to meet their recovery goals. This position will also provide non-emergency transportation of participants in or seeking recovery.  This position requires empathy, understanding, and a deep commitment to supporting individuals through their recovery process. This position will support Richmond and surrounding areas.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Peer Support and Coaching

  • Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals in or seeking recovery, drawing on personal experience and knowledge.
  • Assist participants in developing personalized recovery plans and setting achievable goals.
  • Offer encouragement, motivation, and accountability to participants as they navigate their recovery journey.

 Transportation Duties

  • Timely pickup and delivery of passengers to specified locations, follow the assigned routes and schedules that may fluctuate.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on the vehicle, including but not limited to, checking oil levels, tire pressure, and lights. Report any machanical issues promptly.

Resource Navigation

  • Connect participants with appropriate community resources, including treatment programs, housing, employment services, and healthcare.
  • Help participants access support groups, therapy sessions, and other recovery-oriented services.

Advocacy and Empowerment

  • Advocate for participants within various systems (healthcare, social services, legal, etc.) to ensure they receive the necessary support.
  • Empower participants to take control of their recovery and make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.

Education and Skill Building

  • Provide education on recovery concepts, coping strategies, and safety techniques.
  • Conduct workshops and group sessions on topics relevant to recovery, such as stress management, communication skills, and healthy living.

Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Work closely with the supervisor, staff, and other recovery coaches to provide comprehensive support to participants.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of participants interactions and progress.
  • Prepare regular reports on participants outcomes and program effectiveness for review by the management.

Other Duties

  • Stay current with local events and trends with the recovery community.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.



Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Lived experience with substance use recovery is highly preferred.
  • Additional certifications in peer support or recovery coaching are advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Understanding of substance use disorders, recovery principles, and available community resources.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation. 
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Be able to complete I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification
  • Be able to complete a background check (prior convictions may not necessarily disqualify an applicant)

If position requires transporting participants or driving a company vehicle: 

  • Possess a valid drivers license with a minimum of five years driving experience
  • Have had no more than two at-fault accidents in the past three years
  • Have a personal vehicle for participant transportation
  • Hold personal automobile liability insurance with limits of $100,000 per person/$300,000 per accident/c$100,000 property damage
  • Willing to sign a motor vehicle record release form and have less than six deficiency point on the motor vehicle record
  • Vehicle must be legally registered with up-to-date tags
  • Have no health problems that limit or restrict driver licensing
  • Complete pre-employment and regular drug screenings

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Full-time position, typically 40 hours per week, with occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
  • Work may be performed in an office environment, healthcare setting, correctional facility, or in the community in all weather conditions.
  • Some travel for training or events may be required.






Compensation details: 17.52-17.52 Hourly Wage
