Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) to join our fast-paced cardiology practice. The ideal candidate will be a vital member of our healthcare team, providing a high level of patient care through a combination of clinical and administrative tasks. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient confidentiality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including preparing and cleaning exam rooms.
Obtain and accurately document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and weight.
Conduct and assist with cardiac-specific procedures, including:
Electrocardiograms (EKGs/ECGs)
Application of Holter and event monitors
Assisting with stress tests and other in-office procedures
Provide patient education on cardiac conditions, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
Maintain a sterile and organized clinical environment.
Administrative Duties:
Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
Schedule patient appointments and manage the daily patient flow to ensure efficiency.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Handle prescription refill requests and obtain pre-authorizations for medications and procedures.
Ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists (AMT) is highly preferred and may be required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification is required.
Previous experience in a medical office, with cardiology experience a plus.
Proficiency with EMR systems and Athena or other medical office software.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, particularly related to cardiology.
