Senior Civil Estimator - Civil Construction

Overview
A well-established civil construction company is seeking a Senior Civil Estimator to lead bid preparation for complex heavy civil projects. This is a hands-on position for an experienced estimator with strong technical expertise who can independently manage bids from start to finish. The role offers the chance to contribute directly to high-profile infrastructure projects while supporting and mentoring junior team members.

The Role
The Senior Estimator will take ownership of detailed takeoffs, cost estimates, and proposal preparation across both public and private projects. Reporting into the estimating leadership team, this role requires close collaboration with vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate bids. Success in this role will be measured by the ability to deliver complete, competitive bids and help strengthen the overall estimating function.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, and related scopes.

• Develop accurate cost estimates and complete bid proposals for public and private sector projects.

• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to review pricing, scope, and schedules.

• Analyze bid documents and specifications to identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.

• Support and mentor junior estimators, contributing to team development.

• Ensure all bids are accurate, competitive, and submission-ready.

Requirements

• 5+ years of civil construction estimating experience.

• Strong technical knowledge of wet utilities, grading, and site development.

• Proficiency in AGTEK, Heavy Bid, HCSS, and On-Screen Takeoff.

• Demonstrated ability to independently prepare 90%+ complete bids ready for submission.

• Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail.

Salary
$130,000 – $150,000+ DOE, plus performance-based bonuses.

Location
Mesa, AZ - In-Office.
