Job Summary:

The Audio Visual Lead is responsible for overseeing the testing, refurbishing, and restoring of vintage and modern audio and visual technology products, including speakers, receivers, media players, and CRT TVs. This role involves coordinating and leading volunteers, ensuring that all tasks are performed efficiently and to the highest standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Coordination:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage volunteers dedicated to refurbishing and repairing A/V products.
  • Assign tasks based on volunteers' skills and experience, ensuring a balanced workload.
  • Provide training and support to volunteers to enhance their technical skills and knowledge of audio and visual equipment.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.

Technical Oversight:

  • Oversee the testing, diagnosing, and repairing of audio and visual tech products, ensuring all devices meet quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures for refurbishing and restoring audio and visual equipment.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest technology and repair techniques for audio and visual products.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide guidance to volunteers.
  • Conduct final inspections of refurbished products to ensure they meet operational and quality standards.

Quality Control:

  • Manage inventory of parts and tools necessary for refurbishing activities.
  • Ensure all refurbished products are properly cataloged priced for the retail store.
  • Coordinate with intake and retail store teams to track incoming and outgoing products.
  • Maintain open and effective communication channels with volunteers and other departments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and accessible workspace. 

Additional Duties:

  • Carry out duties related to specific grant assignments, which will be defined and may be adjusted based on the unique requirements of each new grant, partnership, and organizational objective.
  • Supporting shared staff responsibilities such as answering phone calls and assisting in the upkeep, organization and cleanliness of the FGTC workspace. 
  • Supporting fellow staff when additional support is needed such as covering intake or store. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred qualifications:

  • 21+ years or older
  • At least high school diploma or equivalent or higher
  • Background check
  • Comfortable handling customer complaints
  • Able to comfortably lift 30 lbs
