JOB SUMMARY

Brokerage Manager is responsible for managing the Customs Brokerage department. Ensuring Customs Entries necessary for import shipments to clear U.S. Customs are filed in a timely and compliant manner in accordance with all government agency regulations.

Duties & Functions

Oversee all Customs business of NNR USA including maintaining individual custom broker license.

Establish and supervise all operating and recordkeeping procedures required by CBP.

Assign, train, supervise and advise all other Customs Brokers, Entry Writers and other import personnel within the branch office in the entry, importation, storage and transportation of goods into the U.S.

Process compliant U.S. Customs entries following CBP s regulations for customers under the supervision of the Corporate Customs Broker.

Directly manage the Brokerage staff in accordance with the company s policies and processing of Customs clearances.

Ensure that daily Brokerage operations are performed within the established procedures and work instructions.

Ensure that all documents required by CBP and Participating Government Agency (PGA) regulations are correct and complete.

Utilize experience and knowledge of CBP rules and regulations to classify goods and determine applicable duty rates.

Prepare and file with CBP all documentation required for goods to clear customs and enter the commerce of the U.S.

Thorough knowledge of all entry types including but not limited to - Formal, Informal, Warehouse Entry/Withdrawal, Carnets, TIB, IT, IE, T&E, etc.

Examine shipment documents to ensure accuracy of reporting requirements to CBP including but not limited to Entered Value, Country of Origin, Terms of Sale, SLAC count, etc.

Maintain up to date knowledge, including any needed continuing education, of the regulations and procedures of CBP for the classification and entry of goods and knowledge of PGA s, Hazardous material and live animals.

Liaison with Brokerage Supervisor to ensure Brokerage department is running effectively and compliantly.

Maintain, update and add customer/importers profiles.

Perform customer service duties with correspondence to customs and overseas partners, emails fax, etc.

Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning and directing work, addressing complaints.

Effective at listening, understanding and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and business clients.

Comply at all times with NNR USA standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient business operations.

Perform other duties as requested by management.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education & Experience:

High School diploma or GED.

Associates degree preferred

Minimum two (2)years prior experience managing others in a freight forwarding industry.

Currently licensed by the USCS as a customs broker, with no pending penalties or restrictions on operating as a broker.

Five (5) years experience as a licensed customs broker.

Three (3) years experience in as an entry writer.

Must have basic training in ISO.

Solid math skills to calculate duties and freight, storage, and other charges.

Proficient in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Physical requirements:

Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, frequently and/or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Drive to and from local ports, warehouses and consignees to transact customs business and effect the transportation and storage of goods.

Sufficient near vision to read and write information accurately.

The position requires at least annual travel to other branch offices where NNR maintains customs operations.

Must have a valid driver s license.
