We are seeking a Peeler Operator to work in our Monroe, NC facility. In this position, you will be responsible for removing the outside layer of billets to remove blemishes and defects to ensure they meet customer specifications. A successful candidate will demonstrate an attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Additional Responsibilities
- Set up Peeler Machine, and operate the machine to peel billets and bars to the described dimensional tolerances for super alloy, steel, and titanium products
- Control and adjust tools through speeds, and other machine parameters to maintain specified precision tolerances and surface finish
- Maintain continuous surveillance of material as it exits the peeler to detect defects, determine the cause, and correct by making machine adjustments
- Use micrometer to ensure part is within specified tolerances
- Maintain various operating supplies such as: carbide inserts (cutting tool), bushings, etc. necessary for the daily operations of the machine
- Discard supersacks when full, then replace with empty supersacks
- Detect and report unusual or improper operations and follow all prescribed safety rules and regulations
- Keep work area and machine clean; Remove and identify cutting chips and place in barrels for recycle
- Maintain logs and records using a computer
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using micrometers and tape measure
